Mother’s Day traces back to ancient civilizations such as Greece and Rome, where festivals were held to honor mother goddesses. The holiday was later established in the U.S. in 1908 by Anna Jarvis, who wanted to honor her mother and all mothers for their unconditional love and sacrifices. The holiday quickly gained popularity and was officially recognized as a national holiday in 1914. Now mothers across the nation are celebrated annually!
